From The President
In our last edition, we graduated from a print magazine to an online e-book format to evolve with the way members are accessing and digesting news. With a mission of continuous improvement, we are happy to now deliver content via a dedicated micro-site which allows for improved interactivity, rendering and scaling, responsive across all devices and formats including mobile phone screens.
This post-season issue features a colourful mixture of seasonal wraps, industry updates and stars of the season while we also get to know our players off the field. It features member-specific information such as upcoming events and is punctuated with plenty of social galleries and video.
A highlight of the 2016/17 season was the performance of our Sheffield Shield team. We have now played in the past two Shield finals – our first since South Australia last won the Shield in 1995-96 – and although we are still chasing that elusive title, we are proud of our young and ambitious group of players.
Congratulations, also, to the Sheffield Shield Player of the Year Chadd Sayers. He had an extraordinary season, taking 62 wickets including eight in the final, and we hope he can continue to push for national honours.
Our attention now swings to next season. The feature of a busy SACA calendar is undoubtedly our Ashes day-night Test match in December, the first ever Ashes pink ball Test. It will also be the first time England has played at the Adelaide Oval since the redevelopment was finished, so we are expecting bumper crowds.
Please enjoy tapping and swiping your new-look Stumps!
Andrew Sinclair, SACA President
